Call for Internship
MRC Internships provide a dynamic platform for students to gain hands-on experience through the UDA (Understanding, Developing, and Applying) project framework, guided by expert mentors. The program emphasizes practical learning, innovation, and teamwork, enabling participants to strengthen their research and technical skills while engaging in real-world problem-solving. Upon completion, participants receive a Certificate of Internship, with top performers earning the opportunity to join as MRC Research Associates, furthering their involvement in innovative research initiatives.
Please note: Stipends will be disbursed in accordance with industry standards to candidates and students from institutions that have established special tie-ups or Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the Maritime Research Center. These stipends are designed to support and encourage talented individuals who are part of our strategic partnerships, ensuring fair and competitive compensation in alignment with industry norms.

The initial research will focus on two key areas: Underwater Domain Awareness (UDA) and Anthropogenic Noise and Its Impact on the Marine Ecosystem. UDA aims to enhance understanding and monitoring of underwater activities to support maritime security, resource management, and environmental protection. Simultaneously, research on anthropogenic noise will examine how human-generated underwater sounds—from shipping, industrial, and naval sources—affect marine species’ behavior, communication, and overall ecosystem health.
As the work progresses, the research will expand to include underwater communication, marine biodiversity monitoring, acoustic habitat mapping, and sustainable ocean technologies. Collaboration with domain experts will ensure a comprehensive, innovative, and sustainable approach to marine research and conservation.
Internship Programs
Completion of an E-Learning course is mandatory for all participants to be eligible for the internship program.
E-Learning CoursesParticipants must affiliate with the Maritime Research Center for the 8-week online internship, costing INR 23,600 (including 18% GST). Students can avail a INR 10,000 discount upon completing the E-Learning Module and certificate verification. The program features mini-projects, expert talks, and presentations that can develop into research papers.
Participants must affiliate with the Maritime Research Center for the 6 month online internship, costing INR 35,400 (including 18% GST). Students can avail a INR 10,000 discount upon successful completion of the E-Learning Module and certificate verification. Participant will be assigned a research problem and guided to write research papers.
Participants must affiliate with the Maritime Research Center for the 1 year online internship, costing INR 59,000 (including 18% GST). Students can avail a INR 10,000 discount upon successful completion of the E-Learning Module and certificate verification. Participant will be guided to write research papers on assigned problems.

Monthly Stipend

The one semester (five months) program will translate to a candidate being supported with a monthly stipend of Rs. 20,000/- and provided all academic and technical guidance to pursue the project formalized by him/her during the six weeks internship.
